Bitdeer has revealed its technology roadmap for the Sealminer rig, highlighting the upcoming “SEAL04” chip set to launch in the second quarter of 2025. This chip aims for energy efficiency as low as 5 joules per terahash (J/TH).
The roadmap aims to enhance transparency in mining, managing miners’ expectations for tech advancements and equipment delivery, while providing data analytics on machine capabilities, inventory, and purchasing behavior.
The SEAL04 chip will power the fourth-generation Sealminer machine, with mass production and delivery expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025. The machine’s power consumption is optimized to 5.5–6 J/TH, significantly below the average of 29 J/TH.
Bitcoin mining has faced challenges related to power consumption, prompting companies to focus on reducing energy usage. The introduction of the SEAL04 chip could mark a significant advancement in the industry by offering enhanced mining performance with minimized power consumption.
Bitdeer previously announced the successful testing of the SEAL01 chip, achieving a power efficiency of 18.1 J/TH. This chip was utilized in the Sealminer A1 mining rig and designed using 4-nanometer process technology.
Tether recently entered into a subscription agreement with Bitdeer to purchase up to $150 million worth of shares in a private placement. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino praised Bitdeer’s technological prowess and research efforts in the Bitcoin mining industry.
Bitdeer Technologies Group partnered with Bhutan’s sovereign investment arm, Druk Holding and Investments (DHI), to establish eco-friendly and carbon-free digital asset mining operations in Bhutan in May 2023.
Cointelegraph reached out to Bitdeer for further details on the SEAL04 chip but has not received a response yet.
